Last CF3 class

Last day drawings in Clothed Figure Drawing 3... Good times. I think I've grown a bit in this class. My direct-drawing technique is a little better. I was in a more of a painterly mood this day, as you can maybe tell...

Last Illustrations

Hey guys, last week of school! Finals went well and I got some pieces into the Springshow, but I don't know which ones. I submitted a lot...

Here are my last two assignments for Illustration 2: Watercolor. Watercolor is much more diverse than I expected, but I'm not sure I'll be using it much in the future.. we'll see. The theme was a book illustration, both cover and interior. I chose a novel by Jim Butcher called Turn Coat in the Dresden Files series. It's a Mystery-Detective-Urban-Fantasy book, I love it.

This first one is actually our final, but we were running out of time in class so we had to finish this one and the other one at the same time, so I went for a very simple design that I could paint fairly fast :P Here's my process:

Super messy and fast sketches, playing with ideas and composition.

We painted our color rough in class, trying to figure out how my final's gonna look like... I actually like the colors here way better than in my final, I messed up the purple..

And then the final!

This is the interior illustration, a two-page spread, with space for text.

Messy sketches. I picked a passage from the book which reads:

"It screamed again, the sound deeper-chested than before, more resonant. I raised my staff, anger and terror and determination surging down into the wooden tool, and shouted, "Forzare!"

My color rough

And final!

Extra bonus: This is how my final for Adv. Perspective looks like, all the drawings mounted on two big boards for presentation.

Igster & Peebs

Another Illustration 2 project, render an animal, realistically, in watercolor. Then create a character from that animal.

Keppnin Mikla!

Here is the last part of my adv. perspective final, 5 illustrations. The concept is our Boardgame world (along with the characters posted earlier). I wanted each picture to show a part of the boardgame you go through at some point. First all the players arrive at the city harbor on the first island. Then they must race to the top, through each island filled with battles and treasures and exciting places, and who reaches the top first, and slays the Dragon wins! :D

First I chose 5 compositional thumbs and did a preliminary color rough.

Then I painted them (using photoshop):

Some Illustration 2 work coming soon..

Composition Composition Composition

Yo, some more homework from advanced perspective class

Greek Mythology theme

Our next (and FINAL!) project is five complete illustrations with our own theme. I chose the world from our Boardgame that my friends and I are making. It's a roleplaying-card-Boardgame with lots of action and fun! You can chose from 6 characters, each with specialities. The first part of the assignment was to draw your characters and other concepts around the world, then draw 90 thumbnails(!) from which we will chose 5 to illustrate. Good times.
