The Whisperer (1/2)

Last summer I was commissioned to do couple of conceptual illustrations for director Ragnar Bragason for his newest movie The Whisperer. I am finally able to show them now.

I wasn't very good with painting in photoshop at the time, so I had to learn fast. I definitely learned a lot in the process. I used a lot of photo references to look at and all the skills I've got. I pretty happy with how most of them turned out, although I would have wanted some more time on some. Anyways, here they are finally. Enjoy.

Getting colder

Á la la c'est froid. It's getting a little bit colder here in San Francisco, but nothing a hardcore icelandic viking can handle.

I spend saturday and sunday this weekend in Monterey acting in my friends short film. It was pretty fun, although we spent pretty long hours shooting (didn't stop filming until 3 am on satuday night). I hope it turns out good.

Thanksgiving is coming up and I have couple of days off next week. Everybody goes home to their families and eat turkey and remember some pilgrims. Too bad I have none of those here. I could always buy some icecream. I like icecream.

Just a couple of quick sketches for today, about 30 minutes each done with a 2B mechanical pencil.

Take care people,

Pétur

More Perspective

Alright gang! I got sick over the weekend but I'm getting better now. Had a cold and sore throat. Now I'm back and kickin'! I'm posting my 2-point-vertical perspective homework which I finished yesterday at 4am. Had little sleep over that crazy drawing. But I'm glad it turned out kick-ass! Feast your eyes! Later.

Octopus

1. Sketch

2. Clean it up. I traced it on a new semi-transparent paper

3. Quick small thumbs, done with markers, trying to figure out how I want the lighting and mood. You can tell I picked the bottom far right one.

4. Ruin it in Photoshop. I kind of changed the whole "in the ocean" feel into "we're in space and it's weird" feel. Bah, who cares, it's my drawing!

Sketches

A rare glimpse into my personal sketchbook, a lot of it is just scribble...
