Bluebeard

I finally got around to scan the rest of the drawings that I've been doing in my visual development class. I've gathered all of the designs for the project and put it in a presentable form. This semester went by super fast and I hoped I could have done a little bit more with this, but I think I will continue to add some story beats to this, even though the semester is up.

Bluebeard is a gruesome old French fairy tale about a man named Bluebeard who charms young women into marrying him only to murder them in his home. Last semester, for Baby City, I focused more on the story beats and color keys, and I painted the characters. It was a humorous futuristic story with robot babies. So this time I wanted to do something completely different and focus more on drawing and designing everything about this world. The characters, their homes, the town, etc. Since it's a French fairy tale I based the architecture of Alsace where my dad is from in France, and infused some industrial revolution in there. You could say it's steam punk -ish. So there you have it, check it out. Everything drawn with colored drawing pencils.

FLAKK Released!

photographs by Sigtryggur Ari Jóhannsson

My boardgame "Flakk" has been released in Iceland! It's out in stores! Unfortunately for my foreign readers, this is an exclusive Icelandic product, but perhaps it will be translated in the near future. Check out the links above.

Kisi

For the last three months I've been working on a comic with writer Hugleikur Dagsson translated in english as "The one eyed cat Kisi and the mysteries of Eyjafjallajökull". It's an action packed adventure comedy.

It's been fun and stressful at the same time, as in penciling and inking a 52 page comic along with all my homework can be... yeah.. interesting. Anyway, our lovechild is finally in printing and will be released in Iceland in just a few days! Be sure to look for it Icelanders! (sorry foreigners). This is the cover for the comic, painted in photoshop. And below is how it will apparently look like after printing, the text was added by the publishers.

Town Design

Some drawings to figure out what the town feels like in my new visual development project, Bluebeard. I'm designing a sort of industrial fantasy town fusion, heh.. I'm still working on it so the town will evolve a bit more I think..

Flakk Prototype

We finally got the prototype from the printers. It looks great, the printing is really nice. The cards are different paper than the final will have though, and the edges on the cards will be rounded too. I'm including all the characters as well. There are 6 types, and you can choose male or female. I'm also showing the new map, the board. Adventure! Fun! Yay! Soon in stores!
